Supraspinatus

The supraspinatus is a muscle and tendon in the shoulder that connects the Shoulder blade (scapula) to to the upper arm bone (humerus).

Movement

The Supraspinatus is responsible for adbuction (movement away from the centre line of the body). It produces motion in the ROM of 0 -15 degrees of shoulder abduction. Above 15 degrees, the deltoids and trapezius are engaged in the movement.

It is one of the four muscles that makes up the Rotator Cuff. The Supraspinatus is prone to injury and damage where it connects to the humerus.
