Shoulder External Rotation

Shoulder external rotation is a movement with the shoulder joint, that shows the behaviour of this joint. The movement goes in two directions. First in the upper direction (when the arm is in front of you) and the other direction is to the side and a bit downwards.

External (or lateral) rotation is an excellent exercise to keep mobile shoulders and prevent the onset of shoulder injuries.
